Okay, full disclosure: I’m writing this up for a client, but I figured it could help folks who might run into issues with emails sent from their iPhones/iPads not showing up in the correct mailbox folder.
Anyway, let’s get to the meat of this thing, shall we?
Open the Settings app and scroll down to ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendar’ and give that a tap. At that point you should see something similar to the screenshot to the right (Image 1).
At this point, you’ll tap the account that you want to edit. For this example, we’ll be using TG.NET.
At this point, you’ll see something similar to Image 2. Tap on the ‘Account’ option. For example, here we’d tap the email address. Believe it or not, that’s a tappable button.
On the next screen, you’ll see a bunch of options. We’re only concerned with the ‘Advanced’ area for now, so tap that.
Here is where you manage all of your “Special Folders” on your phone. For the most part, you’ll never come here unless you’re having issues with emails copying to the wrong folder when emailing or your ‘Drafts’ aren’t showing up correctly.
For our purposes, we’re trying to fix a Sent Mailbox error, so we’ll tap ‘Sent Mailbox’.
As you can see in Image 4, it is currently set to the folder ‘Sent Messages’. This is where we want it to end up, but since our mailbox is acting up, we’re going to do a little switcheroo.
In the new screen that pops up, select another folder. In this case I used the aptly named ‘Sent’ folder.
Now, back all the way out until prompted with a ‘Done’ option. It’ll drop you all the way back out to Image 1. At that point, follow steps 1-4 again until you’re back here.
Now, similar to step 5, select a different folder–in this case ‘Sent Messages’–and back up until prompted with a ‘Done’ message. At that point, you’re all done.
